ABOUT US

We are the Biobots, a FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team. FIRST is an organization whose mission is to promote and popularize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) around the world to kids and teenagers like us. They have three main divisions- FLL, FTC, and FRC. Our primary motive as a team is to deepen our understanding of STEM. In addition to benefiting ourselves, a part of our mission as an FTC team is to give back to the community.

Our goal for outreach is to spark an interest in STEM in underprivileged kids. We plan to share our knowledge about STEM and FTC at public settings such as the library, as well as mentor younger FLL teams in our community. We also plan to go to low-income areas where kids do not get as many opportunities as us. We taught an 11-week course at an afterschool specifically for these types of kids. We also plan to go to libraries in similar areas and give them opportunities.

Before we were an FTC team, we competed in FIRST Lego League (FLL) for two years and made it to the regional finals both times. The first year, we won the Robot Design Award, the Robot Performance Award, and qualified for the regional finals. The second year, we did better than the first and were one of the top teams.
